A CSD is involved in problem solving and application of strategy; their advice is based on conceptual and technical knowledge mediated by training and experience, analysis of evidence and critical thought. They understand how to use and access the evidence base and value professional collaboration. They are capable of working with minimal supervision and usually give direction to others.

As a current CSM certificant interested in earning your CSD or as a CSD certificant interested in renewing or recertifying as a CSD, the cost for the course materials and examination bundled is $95.
After completing the examination and being approved to take the exam, applicants will receive official notification from the NASP Certification Board via email. The notification will include instructions on what is needed on the day of your examination.
Applicants will also receive notification from the Certification Board’s testing contractor, Scantron. If you are scheduled to sit for the pilot examination in March, you will be contacted by Scantron the first week of February with the instructions on testing locations and what you will need for the pilot exam. Applicants will schedule with Scantron on the particular day to take the examination.
If you are scheduled to sit for the pilot examination in June, you will be contacted by Scantron at the end of April or first week of May.
