Hand and power tools are common parts of our everyday lives, both in our homes and at work. They allow us to tackle tasks with ease that would otherwise be challenging to complete. However, since these tools are so commonplace, we often forget about the risks of improper use.

Our Hand and Power Tools Specialist training course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the hazards associated with these tools and precautions that can prevent trips to the emergency room.

HPS Course Overview

Students enrolled in the hand and power tool safety training course from The National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP) learn the basic safety procedures and preventive measures required for the safe operation of these tools. You’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of potential hazards and how to avoid injuries on the worksite.

The most significant hazards posed by hand and power tools often stem from misuse, so employees should be aware of the potential dangers and how to prevent injuries.

Successful specialists who complete the hand and power tools course will be able to:

  • Recognize and address potential hazards and improper use of specific tools.
  • Understand and implement safety measures for tool use.
  • Identify unsafe practices that could cause injuries.
  • Know and conform with OSHA standards for general industry, maritime or construction applications.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Our online HPS course takes approximately eight hours to finish, depending on your existing knowledge.

  • Continuing Education Units

    (0.80) CEUs are offered for this course. As an IACET Accredited Provider, NASP offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. CEUs will be reflected on the Certificate upon successful completion of the course and passing the exam. Partial credit or adjusted CEUs will not be awarded for individuals who do not successfully meet the criteria for achievement of CEUs.

  • Online Exams

    The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course. You must score 80% to receive certification. You have two opportunities to pass each exam.

  • Recertification

    A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $95.
