The Spill Containment Specialist (SCS) course focuses on how to handle contaminated stormwater, chemical storage (ERP) and oil storage (SPCC). You’ll learn about response levels and training along with Incident Command Systems. You will also study prevention regulations and how to contain spills through methodologies like patching and plugging.

Students have up to six months to finish this course.

  • Online Testing

    To obtain a certificate upon completion of the course, you’ll have to take a comprehensive online exam and earn a score of 80% or higher. You will have two chances to pass this exam.

    Every three years, students will need to take the refresher course and exam, which costs $150, to get recertified.

  • Recertification

    A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $150.

  • Performance Outcomes

    Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able implement a comprehensive spill response program to meet the requirements of EPA, OSHA, DOT and others. This includes, but is not limited to, SPCC, ERP, SWP3 mandates.  Knowledge of proper inspection of facility and practical applications as to proper response in the case of a spill, leak or other type of pollutant discharge, as well as proper reporting requirements to the various governmental entities, will be gained.
