The dreaded beginning to the workweek, Monday, is statistically the most dangerous day of the week for workplace accidents according to the Bureau of Labor.

The most common injury to occur on a Monday, for both men and women, were sprains, strains, tears, soreness and pain. Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) accounted for 33% of all injury and illness cases, with laborers and freight workers among the most common industries to incur these types of injuries.

The age group requiring the most time off work due to injury was 45-54 year-olds, with injury occurrence about 10% higher than both 25-34 and 35-44 year-olds. The 45-54 age group also had, on average, longer amounts of time off work with a median of 12 days, compared to eight days in 35-44 year-olds and six days in 25-34 year-olds.
