POSITION PURPOSE:
The Risk and Safety Manager is responsible for managing clinical and business-related safety and risk programs, systems, engagement, policies, and procedures to ensure safety and security of patients, employees, and assets. The Risk and Safety Manager will work closely with leaders in clinical and business operations to ensure that safety measures are in place, adhered to, measured, and reported.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify and assess hazards and risks in clinical and business operations that impact patients, visitors, employees, and assets.
- Conduct safety and risk audits, analysis, and compliance checklists to ensure patient, visitor, and employee safety; asset security; and compliance with HRSA, OSHA, OHA, CDC, HIPAA, state health departments, and other related governing agencies.
- Implement strategies to mitigate, prevent, and control clinical and business operational risks.
- Evaluate success within the safety and risk programs; develop continuous improvement strategies to fill the gaps.
- Investigate, document, and report workplace accidents, incidents and near miss incidents; conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective action plans to prevent reoccurrence.
- Build and maintain trust from others to be regarded as the subject matter expert of Safety and Risk Management.
- Collaborate with the individuals responsible for Infrastructure Security to document and align data security protocols are in place to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Develop and implement clinical and business safety and risk policies, procedures, and emergency response plans; coordinate emergency drills and preparations.
- Collaborate with departments to develop, implement, document, and train personnel on appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); ensure PPE inventory is updated and available.
- Train employees on safety and risk policies, procedures, emergency response plans, and incident reporting; ensure accurate and thorough recordkeeping of applicable training.
- Oversee and lead the safety committee.
- Respond to and resolve clinical and business safety and risk-related questions and challenges that arise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Risk Management and/or Safety, or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical or healthcare administration role.
- Experience working within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or similar community health setting is highly preferred.
- Proven track record in program management and administration
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated experience in managing healthcare risks, patient safety, and compliance.
- High School Diploma: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Risk Management, or a related field preferred.
- Valid Professional Certification in Risk Management or ability to achieve one within 12 months of hire.
