Safety Certifications for the Practical Safety Professional
The role of a safety professional is ever-changing. The responsibilities are many, and every day holds something different and challenging to overcome. The entire well-being of a company and its employees are in your hands. Professional safety certifications show employers that you can provide effective program management, reduce risk, and contribute to a positive safety culture.
NASP provides two of the industry’s most comprehensive and practical safety certifications. The accredited Certified Safety Director (CSD) and Master Safety Professional (MSP) set the benchmark for ensuring the knowledge and competence of practicing workplace safety professionals. With multiple eligibility tracks available, your path to certification has never been easier.
Curious if you qualify for the industry’s newest and most inclusive safety certifications? Your answer is just a few clicks away!
Obtaining the CSD or MSP certifications demonstrates your commitment to superior professionalism, upholding industry standards, and continued education and training. When you have the training and certification that your competitors don’t, it provides you with the competitive edge you need to differentiate yourself from other professionals in the EHS field. Achieving your MSP or CSD certification is about more than simply stating what you have accomplished. You will likely learn new techniques and skills — not only those associated with your field but also transferable skills such as training methodologies, discipline, and communication.
The MSP is the highest level of certification offered by NASP. The MSP is a visible model of leadership, managerial excellence, and provides strategic guidance to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. The MSP’s primary responsibilities usually include overall management of the company’s health and safety programs and acting as a business partner within the organization to drive continuous improvement of safety practices across the enterprise.
The CSD is responsible for overseeing all safety-related activities at their company or organization. They ensure proper safety procedures and protocols are followed accordingly and work to identify and eliminate any hazards that may be present in the workplace. The CSD often plays an active role in training employees on how to safely perform their jobs.
The Master Safety Professional (MSP)® and Certified Safety Director (CSD)® credentials are accredited by the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB). These certifications are accredited under the ISO/IEC 17024:2012 standard for personnel certification programs.
