Job Description:
SUMMARY:
The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of UW-Madison in support of the university’s education, research, and outreach activities. As one of UW-Madison’s largest and most diverse divisions, our employees span all six university-supported languages and shifts around the clock on campus. FP&M staff work behind the scenes to coordinate campus planning, manage design and construction, maintain and operate buildings and grounds, supply utility services, ensure health and safety, and provide parking and transportation services.
Under the direction of the People & Building Safety Manager, the Senior Safety Specialist is responsible for building and fostering a safety culture on campus. This includes providing guidance, assistance, and training to UW employees, faculties, staff, and customers. This position will be also responsible for reviewing and investigating incidents that occur on the UW campus and associated facilities. This position plays an important role in identifying safety issues, developing improvement plans and procedures, and providing guidance to internal and external stakeholders including leadership in specialized areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in workplace safety is required.
Desired:
– Demonstrated competence in oral and written communication, including written and in-person training/instruction/presentations and communicating technical information clearly and concisely.
– Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally and effectively with a wide variety of individuals (researchers, staff, students, administrators, and regulators), behaving in accordance with institutional values.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
Minimum $64,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications. The minimum salary for this position is $64,000, but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
