Job Description:
Under general direction, inspects work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
Safety Tech is responsible for the inspection of occupational workplace duties, equipment and operational safe workplace compliance within the distribution center and the facility to ensure compliance with company, state and federal safety policies and regulations. Additional tasks include executing safety inspections, documenting, and taking corrective action to mitigate risks and potential safety hazards. Maintains safety equipment, supplies to ensure availability. Works on projects of limited complexity in a lead and support role with the company safety team.
Enforces safety policies and procedures and administers employee safety training initiatives. Maintains all electronic files and records all critical documents and other paperwork to ensure compliance. Safety Tech is responsible for hazardous material program, assuring all hazardous materials are received, managed, shipped, stored, labeled, and disposed of in accordance with company and government regulations. May interface with regulatory agencies.
Safety Tech position requires a thorough understanding of all safety protocols and possess the ability to effectively interpret the policies and objectives of the company and train others in company safety policies. Must have the aptitude to train in the correct use of safety equipment. Must be proficient with technology, i.e., Microsoft Office, Intelex, Ed APP, warehousing software along with the ability to perform control calculations.
Other job duties include:
- Conduct safety meetings.
- Conduct safety onboarding.
- Risk identification/analysis/assessments of the warehouse.
- Incident investigation/reporting.
- Consulting with onsite leadership and safety engineers.
- Assist in the development and deployment of safety initiatives.
- Develop a strong safety culture within the workforce.
- Provide direction, leadership, safety data interpretation, and technical assistance.
- Conduct safety audits accordingly.
- All other tasks assigned.
Must be able to produce quality, accurate work. Must be able to detect and correct errors. Requires effective written and verbal communication.
Requires at least 3- 5 years related experience. A two-year degree or equivalent is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
The pay range for this position is approximately $26 – $35. Salary will be based on the candidate’s qualification, experience, and education.
