Job Description:
Due to the untimely death of Mark Webb, Cal-OSHA Reporter is seeking a Case Decisions Editor.
The editor will analyze and write summaries of Cal/OSHA appeals cases. Publishing accurate, substantive, timely Decisions digests is the key performance metric. It is a part time position requiring two to three hours per case with about 75 cases per year.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of the administrative law system and will have a juris doctor degree. Bonus points for familiarity with the occupational safety and health ( Cal/OSHA ) appeals system.
The candidate must have the ability to provide clear legal analyses of appeals decisions, verify the case cites, and translate “legalese” into plain English for an audience of safety professionals.
The Decisions Editor summarizes Cal/OSHA Appeals Board administrative law judge decisions, Decisions After Reconsideration, and Denials of Decisions After Reconsideration. He or She will analyze the cases, with an understanding of the relevant precedents.
