  • How does the LSP compare to the CSP?
This question is asked frequently from people who are trying to differentiate between the two certifications. The CSP designation is certainly a legitimate credential; however, NASP/IASP simply does not see the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) as a competitor. If one has an engineering education and desires an engineering emphasis in a workplace safety career, then the CSP certification may be an option. It must be noted, that the CSP is the passing of a single exam. There is no class or course material. BCSP does not offer training; they offer you the opportunity to verify training obtained elsewhere. The LSP is certification of a high level of knowledge, skills, and abilities with the successful completion of a specific curriculum. In addition, the LSP topics range far beyond the CSP credential, including review of pertinent DOT and EPA regulations. It is more comprehensive in scope, representing a very broad scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

If you qualify for the CSP (which requires a four year degree and five years of experience in the safety field), but are debating between the CSP and the LSP, then perhaps you may choose both and have the ultimate proof to any employer of advanced expertise in the safety field. There are many professionals who have obtained both certifications. The LSP was originally developed for those who may not have the math/engineering skills to pass the CSP exam. Many were those who did not begin their careers as safety professionals but ultimately found themselves with workplace safety responsibilities. Today, many engineers and holders of safety related college degrees also seek NASP/IASP certifications.

  • I need assistance regarding a course I am taking.  Who can I speak with?
Make sure you have read the question and required materials and understand the material you read. Most courses are open-book tests to assist students in self-discovery. If you went through a 40 hour course with others doing the same course, you may like to e-mail other students and utilize group training methodology. NASP/IASP IS happy to assist students with genuine difficulties that have made every effort to accomplish the required work. NASP/IASP will not give out answers to exam questions. For further help, please contact info@naspweb.com or call 1-800-922-2219 to access your records.

  • What is the difference between the classroom version and online version of a course?
The information provided in each course is quite similar. However, many students prefer the instructor to student interaction, as well as networking potential, that you will only receive in a classroom format. In addition, there is more emphasis on training methodologies covered in the classroom, which is ideal for individuals who may be providing safety and environmental training in house. The benefit to the online version is less travel cost, and you may complete the course at your own pace. Either way, the certification is the same.

Our cancellation policy for classroom courses provides you with several options. You may transfer dates for the course with no penalty. If you cannot make the class for which you registered, then we can reschedule you for a later class in the same subject/course. You may substitute students with no penalty. If you cannot attend the course and wish to send someone in your place, that is permitted. If you must cancel the course (for VISA denial or any other reason) and it is greater than 7 days prior to the class, a refund will be issued minus a 3% processing fee. If you must cancel the course (for VISA denial or any other reason) and it is less than 7 days prior to the class, a refund will be issued minus a 5% processing fee. No shows will be billed for the entire amount. If you must cancel the course (for VISA denial or any other reason), we will waive the cancellation processing fees, if you transfer the funds paid towards any of our online courses costing the same amount.
